The Institute of Laser Medicine offers unique clinical techniques for your patients seeking the finest facility for laser hair removal.
The extensive clinical experience of the Institute of Laser Medicine is the key to outstanding clinical results. The Institute of Laser Medicine specializes exclusively in laser hair removal, and has done so since 1997; for many other medical practices laser hair removal is only a sideline. As with any medical procedure there is no substitute for clinical experience.
Technical Details regarding Photolysis HR® and laser hair removal:
1)Epidermal Heating is the rate-limiting factor in laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal requires transmission of laser energy through the epidermis to reach the hair germinative apparatus in the bulge and the dermal papilla. Melanin, the chromophore for ruby, alexandrite, and diode lasers is present at the dermal-epidermal junction. Single pulse lasers have significant absorption at the D-E junction.
2)Laser Hair Removal requires careful attention to laser parameters.
Careful adjustment of laser parameters, such as fluence and epidermal cooling, are necessary to achieve optimal results.
3)Clinical Experience is highly useful.
Laser hair removal can be deceptively difficult, especially for inexperienced laser operators. At the Institute of Laser Medicine the appropriate laser technology is carefullly selected to fit the individual patient. Many smaller and less experienced laser centers only have a single technology available which often may not be the optimal technology for a given patient.
For more information about the laser technology available at the Institute of Laser Medicine, including its latest laser technology which enables the treatment of patients with all skin types, please see the patents held by the Institute of Laser Medicine (found in the Our Practice section of this website), including its 2003 patent awarded entitled, "Apparatus and method employing parametrically defined pulse groups for laser hair removal", U.S. patent 6,595,985.
All laser hair removal procedures are performed by Board Certified Physicians, or Registered Nurses, all of whom are specialists in laser hair removal. Exceptional attention is made to attend to patient comfort and to ensure they have an outstanding experience. Women are treated only by female staff members to guarantee their privacy.
